In bridges between cultures and beauties- between construction in the west and eastern minimalism; chaos and simplicity; lines and knots; different skin colours and universal imperfections.
But also from simple market research, for example creating a day/night accessory.
Functionality, fluidity, natural imperfections of the material, simplicity and rather unisex.
From the start the idea was very much like producing good quality food- home made, quality local ingredients and a bit of imagination.
It was 6 years ago. Everyone needed an ideal accessory that lasts, that is special and transformable but also simple and easy to use- so I thought ah maybe a perfect backpack
My favourite piece is Mono wallet CM- the one I’m using at the moment also. In this model we’ve managed to create compact small wallet made in one piece of leather that can fit good number of cards( 5+ to 8+), coins and paper money.
As it’s made in a natural grain bovine leather, it’s constructed to adapt and morph to fit anyone needs.
Usually it starts from the material: first, testing it to understand how will it behave in different shapes, weather conditions or for example weight stress.
Oboyi design is also based on research of forms and studies of the relation between body and accessory.
Finally, I strongly believe in object that lasts, that adapts to our needs and becomes part of us in time.
